I dunno, some people get frustrated with working with the rotary engine. They want more torque, they want to do burnouts and all the usual "American" bullshit, but in their RX7 that handles nicely. The rotary engine, while it's unusual and very different, is still very capable, but it's not for some people that like the RX7 for other reasons (looks, interior...well maybe not the interior).

Yea really guys, thats pretty sad.

I think its pretty damn nice, and even though its far away from stock, there was still alot of work done to it. Up here in canada, the RX7 N/A with 100000kms is worth 4grand starting. Thast a mint body, and a good running engine, with no serious problems.
That car there in the pic has been re-painted, has some nice rims and a very very clean engine bay. Not to mention, a brand new ******* V8. Even though I love the rotary, I'd still think its worth 6grand cndn easy, maybe higher.

Nice ride.

some odd reason, i just dont like buying other peoples projects, cause you never know the method to thier madness, you dont know if they had the urge to do EVERYTHING by the book or afro engineer the whole thing, and plus i would not get the apreciation of the car if i did it myself.

my god..... this is ridiculous... why do people persist on posting photos of rx7's with piston motors... if thats your thing then great but save face and dont post it on this part of the forum... go to the other section where your kind gather.... most of us here see the rx7 as a great car designed in every way... the unique motor like none other, and the handling that is almost perfect balancing.... sure you can get near it with other motors but it will never be the same.... top end is what these cars are all about and if you just cant handle not as much low end then this is not a car for you.... im not bashing you or anything but its just kind of plain that the rx7 is truley unique to any other for the fact it has a rotary engine.... and when you swap a piston engine into it you really harm the value of the car.... as far as that car goes... i would pay 500 for the shell and half of what the motor cost... i would not pay a cent more, but in the first place i would not buy that car to begin with.... some call us hardheaded bastards that are stuck on the rotary but **** man we deserve that driving the only ******* cars that have them in it, whether its a repu, fb, fc, fd or any of the other rx's..... the motor is the pride of my car, such small displacement for such good power... and when you get rid of something like that its no longer a rx7 by heart... many other people feel the same way with their cars being piston and whatnot.... thats how i feel about the rotary motor and im not closed minded or anything because i would not do it... thats just personal opinion and facts about handling... sure you may get more out of a n/a piston but like i said people that know about rx7's know about the rotary motor and if you have fans because of that they will be dissapointed upon popping the hood, i know i would... but its your life and your car guys so do what you want but just remember doing a swap like this will greatly harm the value of the car towards rotary fans...

You make some good points there, except one... value of the car? LOL, general going rate I see for a RUNNING N/A in decent shape is 1000 dollars, dead shell (which most swapped cars start as) go for 100-150 dollars. I hate to break it to you, but with a running piston setup, my car will sell for 4500-5000 dollars. I bought it for 750, and put around 3000 into it. Like or hate what I've done, it's still worth a lot more then it was when I bought it.

Regardless, just making a point, that's all. Your post wasn't rude or anything, this one isn't meant to be either. I think both sides of this argument want the same thing, to be respected by everyone else. I gave up on that, and just try to be a pain in the *** when necessary, and helpful the rest of the time (unlike a lot of piston guys, I DO know the rotary pretty well, as well as most of the workings of the car....)

That thing is completely worthless IMO. I'd pay a dollar to blow it up.

I love that comment from a person with "currently rebuilding" in their signature. Irony at it's finest.

As i've said countless times in the past; I don't really care about the problems with the engine. If you don't want to deal with rotaries than don't buy an RX7. Buy a camaro or something if you want a V8.

Its as simple as that.

We'll all keep that in mind when you're crowned king.
