What would it take for a 89 RX-7 TII to beat a 03' Porsche 911 turbo?
Exactly how it states, my frined miles just got a 03 911 turbo and he thinks he can beat me, im keeping my mind shut, but im about to buy a 89 RX-7 turboII, im planning on restoring the engine myself, replacing the parts that need replacing and, modifying it as i go along, but what would it take for me to beat him, its a stock 911 and he wont do anything, do you guys think i could beat him ever?

wel if he has a gt3 (about $99000) then hes siting right around 380 bhp... his torque isn't as high, but you still have to have a pretty modded t2 to be around there...
IIRC the 3.6 rolls 320ish bhp if it doesn't have the gt3 package... still need a modded t2 for it...

Hell yeah, I think the cheapest way to beat the Porsche is to get a nice big hybrd turbo, its cheaper than the rest and from what Ive heard some can get you from 350-380rwhp, they are basically bolt on, but you have have to worry abnout jeeping your fuel sustem up to the task. Good Luck

That car runs low 12's stock, so... You'll lost heavily stock, you'll lose still when you start modding, but you *can* beat him eventually Just gotta get the mods necessary to run 12's like him

Well I did a quick interweb search and this is what I came up with.
Most come with 315hp. It doesn't say so I am assuming FWHP.
The cars are pretty light and agile.
Unless you have some good mods in your car like maybe a stage 1,2 BNR or t04 I doubt you'll beat him.
You'll probably hang with him for a little since it's AWD and I bet he won't launch it very well.

My bud has the very same porshe. We raced down 70 for a while. I learned two key lessons.
1. I will need to spend a bundle to catch him
2. I need to research exactly how a JATO bottle throw's off the 50/50 balance.

For the price of the 20B project, you could have two of these below.
Do this:
-Pull Motor, get it streetported(if u can afford it get it dowel pinned, this will elt u boost above 15psi safely).
Get 3mm apex if u want but they aren't EXTREMELY important, but u might as well if you dowel pin it.
-Buy a Microtech LT-8
-Buy some 3" or 3.5" turboback exhaust
-Buy 4 1600cc injectors
-Buy a hi-flow fuel pump
-Buy some custom fuel rails, and a FPR
-Buy some good ignition, msd's and the like
-some msd wires
-T04S turbo, 60-1 turbo, if you dowel pin it go larger like a T-66.
-Front Mount Intercooler, I suggest a Greddy Kit, seriously don't fabricate, I did and it cost more and took way too long to get it done.
-Good BOV(Greddy Type R, TurboXS RFL or the like with a stiff spring for higher boost)
-Good bost controller, i.e. Greddy Profec, HKS EVo4, or a Blitz Dual Solenoid....
-A few guages, Water/Oil Temp, Boost, E.G.T., Fuel Pressure
-Wideband O2 sensor for tuning
-Get it tuned if you go with the T04s you will probably make like 450rwhp(correct me if I am wrong), with the T-66 you can make upwards of 500rwhp or more(correct me if I am wrong). With those numbers you will smoke any factory Porshe, as long as you can hook-up. However, that is A LOT of money to be spent, I don't even know how much, and I know I forgot a few things from the list, I just can't think of em now.
