Talking What would be a good gauge to by? Yes it's a vague question but help me please.

Ok, I bought a radio surround for my car off a forum member since mine was cracking bad. It's in great shape. It even came with a single din stereo "kit" already installed. Which is cool since mine was breaking. Only thing it, there is a cutout in the "kit" where it looks like a gauge used to be mounted.

So I would like to fill the hole with a gauge since it's already the right size.

What would be a good gauge to get for an N/A? With my recent coolent problems(fixed now) I was thinking a water temp gauge. Any other suggestions?

Sorry it's such a vague question. I don't have a preference. I just want to fill the hole with something that will actually be useful.

Are you referring to what brand of gauge? Or what type of gauge? for an N/A I would say it would be a choice between 3 types of gauges. Temp, Oil pressure, or Air/Fuel ratio. On an N/A there isnt use for much else. I would say only a highly modded N/A(tons of mods and an Apex Super AFC) would require an Air/Fuel ratio gauge, but its great to have just to monitor how your engine performance is doing..........

I'd go for a NO2 pressure gauge.

Depends on if you've done any mods. If there's anything done to increase the power output, then I'd go with an A/F gauge.

If it's pretty much stock, I'd go with Rico and invest in the water temp.

good luck

I wouldn't bother with the AF gauge unless you just want a pretty light show. Mine stays two lights in the green, but if I crank my stereo up, when the subs hit it goes into the yellow. I doubt my 10's are changing my mixture

You might be surprised.

Check your voltage at the fuel pump when your subs hit. I'll bet it's dropping to 9-10 VDC, causing a momentary lean condition, and your AFR gauge is reflecting that. One more thing to think about....

My fuel pump has 8 gauge wire straight from the battery. I'm pretty sure its staying at 14V....

EGT gauges are pretty useless, since we all know our exhaust is hot as **** and some odd degrees.

An EGT gauge is more useful than an AF gauge.

I'd install an oil pressure guage.

I thought an A/F gauge is usless, and that the EGT gauge is better

Thats right. If you've ever seen the video of the guy that cut his wastegate line on purpose, his car has the boost gauge pegged out, and the AF gauge is still showing stoich. Yeah, right. Its detontating like crazy, but its not running lean

All the can't take a joke people ignore last comment I was just saying how the exhaust on my car is super hot, its singed the hair off one of my legs before so I had to shave my other leg to make it look even, and I looked like some gay country club guy for awhile.

get a water temp guage and a oil pressure guage. Those two will maybe save your motor some day. I think the oil pressure guage is more logical. If for some reason your stock temp guage is not working and you blow a coolant line; a smoke screen should warn you. But if your OMP goes there is no sure sign of failure untill the car dies. The temp is a lil easier to keep in check, while the oil pressure is something that can sneak up on you when you'd least expect it.
