What is this wire (AFM)???
It is a 91 vert N/A. I get a ECU code 10.
It says it is the air thermosensor on the AFM. The cause can be "broken wire" or "Short circuit". I found this lose wire (it is silver with no insulation). I don't know if it goes to anything. Before spending money on a new AFW, I was wondering if this wire could be the culpit of my "check engine" light.
Does anybody know were it goes to?
Any and all comment will be appreciated!

Time to buy the factory manual . But here is a pic of the test procedures on the AFM. I would start with that first. If that turns up ok, you might want to try a continuity test between Pin # 2K on the ECU end of the harness and the AFM plug.

Nope. That's a ground shield. It's probably grounded near the ECU. I'd follow what was suggested above, Ohm out the wires from end to end i.e. the afm plug to the ECU then check the afm using a meter and the fsm.
Or you might just pull off the plug, examine it for foreign objects like dirt, wipe it off then reinsert it and see if the code reappears at a later date after you clear the codes in the ECU. It might have been a glitch.

Ok...I will try these suggestions once I get home. Thanks guys!!!
I tested the AFM and these are the numbers I get:
Narrow range: 2.69 clsd 4.87 opn
Full range 1.56 clsd 4.6 opn
Doesn't sound right, does it?
Keep the suggestions comming!!

I replaced the AFM and still have the problem.
If anyone reading this has an S5, please take a look and tell me if this wire is conected to anything near the AFM.
Thanks

All S5 here in Sweden are TII´s, but I looked at my AFM and I don´t have that cable at all! Only the five coloured ones... I will look more into it when I´m in the garage today!

Do this. Go to the CAS. Look at the harness plug that connects to the CAS plug. Do you notice a braided shield around the wires and does it look similar to what you have on your AFM? If it does, what it is is a braided shield that is wrapped around the wires that go to the AFM. It does not plug in anywhere at the plug. That shield/braid, is grounded to the chassis near the ECU. If you put your meter on ohms and touch that braided wiring, and the other meter lead to a ground, it should read something like 0.2 ohms or thereabouts. Its to prevent EMI with the signals from the AFM.
Or how about a closere picture of the wiring in question?
