What and where the hell is the Feedback system for O2 Sensor?
Hey all, I have a quick question. I've been doing my routine maintenance on my ride and I adjusted my TPS and all is well. But I went to circuit city and back and just as i was coming up my street my check engine light comes on and off really quick. I pull the code and its code 17. Anyone know how the hell i can fix this. Suggestions Please. Also I've done a search and I found 2 instances that this came up, and there was no solution... in either post
Thanks

The feedback system is just the part of the ECU that uses the inputs from the O2 meter. The code is triggered when the O2 sensor does not put out a value within spec for a certaim period of time. Most likely its causes by a faulty O2 sensor, or a short in the system. Replace your O2 sensor, and see if it happens again.

Haven't we ALL heard this
I also had a Code 17 on my 91 TII after I had installed my new engine. Before I removed my engine I found the stock o2 sensor conector to be partially melted and the wire brittle. So I cut that out and put new wire in. All the way to where the wire disapperared into the wire harness. Got the car running with the new engine and blam. Code 17. The code comes on and the car goes to limp mode. Runs bad.
I did everything I could. Checked the 02 sensor. You do that by disconnecting it and starting up the car. Get a voltmeter and put one lead on the wire from the sensor and the other lead on a ground. Should be no higher than 1.0V. Make sure the car is warmed up when you do this. Have somebody blip the throttle and it should go up to .4-.8V ( I think). And on the deceleration it should fall to 0V. If it does that it works.
In my case the problem was a broken wire SOMEWHERE in the wire harness. I did a continuity check at the ECU and the other wire was on the sending wire in the engine bay. It had good continuity. However, it had continutity on a bunch of pins Ment the wire was broken and touching metal.
My solution was to run a wire from the o2 sensor. Through the fire wall and right to the ECU. I cut the wire that used to go into the ecu and ran my new wire there.
Havent had a problem since. good luck

Thanx guys..... I checked the wire and it is melted. Apparently the wire was touching the header and was just melting away. I'm gonna run the wire again tomorrow. I'll let you know if the code goes away. Thanx for the help
