What is this....when I turn over the engine
When I go to start the car it starts to turn over like normal, appears to lag some, then struggles back to starting. During this time there is a sound kinda like something is sticking or experiencing 'stiction' (for lack of better terms). Once started it runs great so I assume compression is ok? I changed the plugs and it seems to be a little worse.

A compression check is always a good thing to have to always keep an eye on your motor. But you might want to think about taking your starter out and have it tested at a local parts store.

Starter is about a year old, OEM Mazda. I'll check the connections to see if anything loosened up. Compression test I working towards once I buy the tool.
Wouldn't compression be good since once it starts, it runs good?
