im sitting at 181k original motor and ive developed a shaking problem, no some no loss of coolant and no loss of power, think its sensor related or vacuumleak

I had my foot to the floor coming over the 3 lane road on the bridge to the beach, me-porsche-BMW.

Going about 110mph and I heard a pop then what felt like a vacuum leak- my fault for bricking that **** without a full tune.

talk about back fromt he dead!

i posted a couple posts up in 07 lol. Well my motor got funked before i could even drive it. The center bolt on the LIM was broke off(previous owner) so i decided to fix it. drilled it out, im tapping it and the tap broke off inside it. Only potion was to take it to a machine shop and have it done. I called around told every machine shop that i talked to " Look you CANNOT get ANYTHING inside the motor! no shavings NOTHING. The intake ports are only half inch away form the whole". every machine shop said can't quarantee that. so i ended up calling a known engine builder that has done some stuff for me and friends, adtually one of the best around. so he promised me nothing will happen blah blah blah. i took the otor there with rags stuffed all the way in the intak ports and they were taped off. when i get it back. difrenet tape on it and no rags...wtf. i ask Y they said o pulled the rags out so when you transported the motor shavings didn't shake there way in. fair enough. i get it home. turn it over it turns a little bit then got hard so i kinda gave it a tuge cuz there was no oil or anything in it, and i here a crunch and it was stuck so i moved it back and forth got it un stuck blah blah blah. needless to say everything got fucked besides coolent seals obviously. there was idk hand full of shavings in it.

Blew the motor in my fist rx7 while teaching my sister in-law to drive stick
went good all day with you normal first time 5spd driver problems,
Then i made the mistake to fall asleep on the way home and she "Forgot to shift"
end result rear rotor went bye bye.....
and she now drives a 5speed wonderfully never forgetting to shift lol..

my 82 launched when I rev'd to 7K and shifted to 2nd and I didn't notice something was wrong till I stopped and the idle was slightly different. Front rotor cracked apex. my 88 SE the first timeback when it was a NA, it was a coolant seal from overheat from a bad hose near the oil filter, second time it was another coolant seal installed incorrectly that went 500 miles and blew, Third time had a turbo engine swap running 13psi and a 3rd gear pull up to 8K rpms racing a 3000gt for gas money, I won but it killed the rear rotor and 100/12/105 compression.

My '88 AE... wait its still has original engine at 67K miles and 90+ psi compression.

The '90 turbo died of old age on the stock engine with 130K miles and didn't die but smoked BAD on cold startup but 70+ compression still. Rebuilt it and went crazy on the engine mods. 10K miles still runs

Racing a guy from school, was doing a bit over 120 mph and the car just didn't want to go any faster (have had it to 150 so I knew it had more go and something was wrong). Stopped after the race to talk to him and the car stalled out, blew an apex seal.

Car's not dead yet, just really really low compression on one face and extremely ******* hard to start.

The engine in my base was blown when I bought it (I knew it was though, so it wan't a shock or anything)

That's eerily similar to what happened to my friend's TII when it blew (I was riding in the car). We were holding steady at about 120 mph, on the highway, all of a sudden he says 'Something let go...'. We were very close to our exit, limped it onto a surface street, it kept dying on the way to a red light so he kept letting out the clutch to make it start again but it would just backfire like a machine gun and die again. Once we were at a complete stop, it cranked and cranked but wouldn't start. So here we are in the middle lane at a red light with a dead car. We got out, pushed it around the corner, another 200 feet or so, then into a gas station parking lot. I wish I could have seen it from the outside, it must have looked ridiculous. We got a ride to my house, picked up my compression tester and came back; had 0/0/0psi on the rear rotor .

My theory as to why it blew; He had an intake, gutted cats and a semi-open exhaust (Loooks like Racing Beat but isn't ) and an FCD. I think all that caused it to overboost.

My TII blew, not really blew, but the o-ring let go when I was driving up to my parents house in the summer heat 3 months after I bought it for $1900.

As I was almost there the temp gauge started maxing out, so I said **** it and kept driving... even stopped to talk to a buddy with it running, said my cars overheating gotta go... When I got there I let it cool down, started it up with the radiator cap off and water would shoot like 5' out of the top and with the cap on it would overfill the overflow bottle in minutes... realized it was the 'headgasket'.

It sat in a barn and made a nice home for some mice (well the little ones ended up dying in my vent at the bottom of the windsheild) for three years until I finally rebuilt the motor in my apt and towed the car down... Runs like a champ now.

going to work i think it was near 7k in 2nd gear. no bang, just sounded like a lawn mower lost power. got it to work, 5 miles away, had a friend pick it up from my work and tow it to his shop. saw no compression on rotor number 2. drove it home from his shop car sat and was never able to restart it. i don't know of any other car that can lose half the motor and be able to drive 20 miles.

Just out of curiosity, when you loose one rotor... does fuel still get dumped into the non-functional rotor housing when the engine is running?

I was coming home, and just down the road from my house the speed limit goes from 25 up to 55. So I got on the gas through 2nd and partly into 3rd, then was cruising normally. I had the hood off the car at the time, and suddenly I started getting a mist on the windshield. I reached out the window and touched the wetness, expecting that I had pushed coolant and overflowed the overflow bottle. Then I realized it was oil, not coolant. I watched the oil gauge for the remaining half mile to my house, and didn't see pressure dropping yet. I jumped out quickly to look at the engine while it was still idling and saw a geyser of oil gushing out from under the oil filter area! I shut the car off immediately, but in the 15 seconds the car idled in the driveway I bet it dumped out 2.5 quarts of oil all over the ground.

And that's how I lost my "S4 cracked rear iron" virginity

front rotor psi 100-90 rear 13- 0- 0, the rear rotor bearing was cracked the rear stat gears teeth where chipped and the rotor had a deep scar.

Pulling my car out of the garage (after just taping it) to shoot it with color and clear.

Lacked the compression to turn over due to coolant seal issues. Radiator overflow bubbling like boiling water.

Excuse to rebuild the original 6 port i guess.

Atkins rebuild kit with coolant seals

pineapple racing streetporting templates.

Stock na high compression rotors.

All my t2 peripherals, front cover etc.

jump from rtek 1.5 to 2.1 with prob 550 primary 8something 2ndaries.

NA trans still.

ahh nitrous.....just down the road from my friends house after installing the nitrous kit.
we sat at the stop light and i hammered it and at about 3500rpm i hit the juice and it was FAST. it just popped really loud when i shifted into 2nd and had no power all the sudden.

then i knew it was done drove it the 7 miles or so back to my house on one rotor. it wasnt happy but it made it, just wouldnt re-start after i parked it. 90/90/90 front 0/10/0 rear....... oh well its turbo now!
