join scca, i think its only like $25 a year (or is it month?)
Edit: I'm sure they sanction several events in/near seattle. Be glad you're not in the middle of nowhere where we get one localy sanctioned drift event yearly, and its held in the highschool parking lot... lol

Don't do anything to the car until you read the racing rules of whatever class you plan to race in. You should start with Solo Autocross (cheapest), then work up to whatever kind of racing you like. The FC can race in just about any event.
You can just show up to the first SCCA Solo Autocross near you, and register at the site. Just make sure your car is in good shape so it passes tech inspection. If you don't pass tech inspection, then you will at least know what you need to repair, and you can still watch the event for free, and sometimes drivers will let you ride along with them for free.

Ya, drag racing.
Be sure to check out the classes you want to race in before you mod your car. Pretty much all classes have restrictions on modifications and tires. Be sure to have fun aswell.

According to the rule book i just read, YOU CAN'T run in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. "Must be a piston-powered vehicle" So did they purposely ban the rotary? Or were they referring to like turbine powered engines? that and it's a $1,500 entry fee. But it would sure be cool though.
