In 88 you could get Blue, Red, Grey or Black interior trim... is that what you mean?

errr... Gib: the new three spoke wheel was the 10th Anny wheel, but all 88 models got it (without leather and with a generic MAZDA center piece). The trim switch was S5. Like was mentioned earlier, either the guy painted his or swapped on the white trim from a 10th Anny

The owner at some point painted it. It is not stock that way, but it is S4 body trim, not S5 body trim.

88

The car is definitely an '88. I have the orignial receipt from the dealer. It says that there were extras added to the car:

Prep: $325.00
Undercoat: $98.00
Pin Stripes: $68.00

Does the undercoat refer to a paint layer or a coating for the bottom of the car?

The receipt also states that the model is a RX-7 XL 2A

Engine Number is 13BE 88291

Paint: Noble White

Original Price: $21,625.00

Undercoating is a common new car dealer add on. It is generally a rubberized or oil based spray on sealer only applied to the underbody.
