Thumbs up What standalone fuel managment to get?

I have a 91 s5.It has a bnr stage 3 upgrade turbo and a rx7trix street ported motor.I have a full 3in exhaust,Fd fuel pump,greddy profecb,720 cc secondaries,Greddy 2 row Fmic with greddy BOV.Hks intake, FCD and thats it for now..
Now i was looking to go either stand alone or use a super afc.Obviously the standalone is expensive. But i was wondering which unit do u guys prefer and what part do i need and is most of the standalones for a 2nd gen plug and play or do u have to get all different kinds of maps..
Sorry for all the questions..I just sold the 3rd gen and i picked this up...i seen alot of people hit twelves without a stand alone and i was curious..

Thanks
Kevin

well the first thing you need to figure out/decide is what your tuner knows/like/is familur with. after you figure that out pretty much all stand alones are gonna come with a harness that you have to build. the hardest part of this in my opinion is making it look decent. also depending on which one you get you will have to tap new holes for new sensors. while stand alones are alot of work, it is a great step forward. i highlyencourage you to choose a standalone over a piggy back.

With respect to the current EMS products on the market, "Plug & Play" is misleading because they may plug in, but they certainly don't work on their own without a LOT of very technical tuning. Wolf calls theirs "Plug & Tune", which is more accurate terminology.

No, you don't have to "get all kinds of maps", you need to have a good tuner produce at least one map. Once that is done, you can leave the EMS alone and it will work fine for a long time.

Warning: Loading somebody else's map into your EMS may cause severe damage to your engine. Never do this. If you can't afford professional tuning, then just stick with the stock AFM and ECU.

The S-AFC is easier to use because it still uses the stock system for most of the functions, which means you don't need to program very much on your own. You should still have professional tuning with the S-AFC, but it's not as important as with an EMS.
