What is this space in the trunk of my vert

Is this an extra storage bin in the end of my trunk. Or does something go here?

Looks like where the spare wheel would go on a coupe (vertically). Not sure if that is moved to another location on a vert

The tire is inside the car behind the seats. I think the trunk is not tall enough to fit a tire.

nothing goes there, it is a good place to mount a amp, you can mount a amp to a board and bolt it in there using existing holes.

and yes- on a coupe your tire goes there. All the way on the left is a compartment your jack would go- do you have a jack?

I always get water in that spot when it rains, and in the jack-spot as well. Seal is good on the trunk lid, never have figured it out. Maybe my trunk mount brake light seal is no good Enough that I would never put an amp in there.

i'm going to go out on a limb, and say it gets wet because of the rain.....

no really, its probably from the top, mine leaks into the trunk, and the spare well is the lowest point... although the 3rd brake light is possible, i've seen that.

shop towels

Well, the top is tight and leak free and I don't get any water under the spare tire cover inside the cabin. Maybe I'm getting water in through the antenna as well...but the drain hose is in place. I just dry it out after a rain.

the factory owners manual i found in my red vert says that after you use your spare. place it in the spare tire slot in the trunk.

i dont really understand why you would do this but oh well. i just keep spare interior pieces in there like vents, door handles and small trim pieces

Factory Owners Manual is generic, not Vert specific.
