What size turbo?

I have read and searched.. I know and understand most of the n/a -> turbo conversion.

I'm not looking for a lot of boost, not even a lot of gain. Just maybe 30-60hp increase.

Out of all the reading i did i still don't understand turbo sizing. i would like a small turbo little lag (less lag the better).

I'm also tring to find something (if possable) from another car i.e. saab, volvo, etc.. I have very good source to make a complete custom manifold.

Thanks guys..

If your referring to the turbo off a T2 I would have to second that.

Well here in RI there anr no T2's in any salvage yards.. I have some family that owns a import salvage yard. He says he's never seen a turbo II in his yard.. On the other hand there are loads of saab's volvo's murker's and other turbo cars. Also I don't want more the 5psi. If I go higher then 5psi with my high compression motor I don't think I could stop the detonation. I have read and drooled over arron cake's job, I want the same thing just smaller.. Please leave info..

All of those cars have far too small of an exhaust side for an RX-7. Merkurs have a T3 with like a .48 exhaust housing. You could run TWO of those on a rotary. **** a stock TII turbo is about as small as I'd want to go on a 13B

With the large variety of old turbo Dodge cars sitting around I'm sure you can find something that'll work.

use a stock tdo5 from an old scoobie. hahhaha. spools at idle. Honestly the rotary flows soo much exhause you'd be fine with the stock seven turbo. if you're worried about it not spooling soon enough, just port your exhaust side. Also i really don't understand everyone's obsession with quick spooling. In racing you're not going to see a lot of sub 3k driving and if you do just downshift. But this is just my personal opinion.

A little lag can help your launch in drag racing...

...but in road racing if you make more power down low that reduces the amount of shifting you need to do, and you'll post better lap times.

Yeah but who the hell is going to be sub-3000 RPMS on a road course? A stock turbo, especially on an NA engine will spool that quick.

o.k. is it possable to get a reliable 3-5psi out of a factory S4 T2? I always thought they boosted more then that.? I'm not lowering my compression. My engine has 9.2 avg. front and 9.1 avg. rear rotor.. I don't want anymore then 5. thats why i was asking about a smaller turbo also.. If it's not possable I will listen and agree. I don't know all that much about turbo systems.. info please.. negitive or positive, just no n/a vs. T2 I don't want to cause arguments.. Thanks guys

The other thing: if i go over 5psi I would have to do more then replace fuel pump & injectors (i already have s-afc and going to try dual MAP sensors -- n/a MAP -> ECU and T2 MAP -> s-afc )

get yourself a stock turbo off a S5 TurboII, and port the wastegate while you've got it out (just in case).

You'll be happy with what you get. They're INCREDIBLY easy and cheap to find, I sold mine for like $100 turbo and manifold, just cause I wanted to get rid of it.

I'd get all 4 550s, you'll be making at least 5 psi before the secondaries come online.
