What size rims/tires are '89-'91 guys running???

What size rims/tires are '89-'91 guys running???
Just wondering what size tires and wheels will work well with my '89 SE. Any thoughts (thinking 17", but need to know more about proper plus size for width and aspect ratio). Thanks.

16x7 inch wheels with a 35-40ET are the best compromise for most FC models, any bigger and you loose performance because of the size and additional weight.
17" and larger wheels should be considered more for looks than function.
