What is better for performance driving, single piston or dual?

the hps will give you a nicer ride w/ performance... the kyb's are stiffer, but perform better than the tokicos when driving aggresively

Tokico HP's are not even in the same league as the KYB GR-2's.

The KYB GR-2's are OEM replacement dampers.
The KYB GR-2's perform just about the same as the stock OEM dampers.

The Tokico HP's are performance upgrade dampers.
The Tokico HP's are slightly stiffer than the stock OEM dampers.

In terms of performance, the Tokico HP's are better.

I have Tokico HP's with Eibach Pro-kit. If I could do it again, I'd get something adjustable. My 7 is my daily driver and I do a lot of highway driving on crappy pavement.

I will say though that the car handled far better with the upgrade. It also amplified rear bump steer and made changing my beat up DTSS bushings even more necessary.

KYB AGX with Eibach pro kit.

All the parts you need for around $700, and as low as $600 if you shop around for a while.

Some of the best help a man can get and will make for a good performance platform when you want it, and an excellent daily as well.

I have used both the GR-2s and the HPs and for an non adjustable shock would only do the HP again.

The HP just rides better and tighter. Like the response is just a little faster than the GR-2.

I disagree, the stock springs with Tokicos are about the same NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) as stock struts. Racing Beat springs & Tokicos are only slightly worse.

Thanks guys, I just want the stiffest shock.

Also, whats the deal with polurethane bushings? Do they stiffen up the suspension that much? Seems they would and their only $100 !

-Thanks, Dustin.

Well I run HP's with RSR Race springs from Auto RnD and I love it. The ride is very stiff, but it is wonderful. The spring rates are about double what the RB springs are but it is great. I payed $495 total for shocks and springs too.

I don't know that the urethane bushings stiffen it up too much, it just gets rid of the give in the stock suspention so you get better respnse and such. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

Polyurethane is a good compromise between solid bushings and stock rubber bushings. They have less wear, reduce suspension play somewhat, and only introduce a tiny bit more NVH (noise vibration harshness). If you're OEM suspension is worn out, you'll notice a drastic change in steering wheel sloppiness, excessive swaying on the free-way/interstate, and the car will drive straight instead of follow ruts in the road.

Be sure you do replace the swaybar endlinks (bushings for 86-88 & whole unit for 89-91), subframe end links, install DTSS eliminator bushings, and check the lateral link (body to subframe) for excessive play.

What are the DTSS eliminator bushings?

-Thanks, Dustin.

Racing beat springs are designed for rx-7 performance handling, specifically for the coupe and convertible. Intrax are not.
