What sensors are these?

I am sure the one with the green cap with the fuel like injector cap is the WTS. So what is the other one? I am asking b/c I dont know and I do not have a plug for it. If I need it what pins on the emishions harness or ECU is it? So that I can wire it up.

It LOOKS like the switch that goes in the bottom of the radiator and someone moved it to that location....

COULD be an e-fan temperature switch that someone mounted in there.........

I've never seen one there in a stock car!!

It is totaly factory drilled and molded into the pump housing. It looks by the connectors ageing that it has not been hooked up. This is a JDM S4 13bt

That's the location of the temp switch for the auxiliary e-fan, but only on S5's. Are you sure that's an S4 pump?

Didn't the S5 nipple have a 90 degree bend in it though? Or was that only for N/A's? (been a while since I saw the back of my TII pump)

Electric fan temperature sensor

The thermo switch at the bottom of the radiator is for the cold-start fast idle.

I am sure it is a S4 motor. Has mechanical OMP, Faded greay fuel injector caps, S4 clutch fan, S$ UIM, Twinscroll, S4 AFM, Low imp injectors, S4 TB, S4 motor harness :-D so yea I am perity sure I swaped a S4 motor.

But what E-fan came form factory using that sensor?

The temp switch for the S4 auxiliary electric fan was on top of the thermostat cover (where the upper radiator hose connects). The switch for the S5 fan was in the location shown in you photo. It might be an S5 pump housing. Does it have an aluminium (S4) or plastic (S5) thermostat cover?

Thank you NZ. I do have that connector on top of the Tstat it uses a spade connector. I have a wire for it in my harness as well. I do not have a wire for temp switch. It has the aluminum TS cover.

I have heard but have seen no resemblances of a FC coming with a E-fan from factory. What ones came with a E-fan?

In front of the radiator, there may be an electric pusher style fan, this fan kicks on when the AC comes on or the temperature switch tells it to come on.. You have to take the plastic in front of the radiator off to see it, and not all cars have it. The regular clutch fan iss still there, this one is an accessory, its only like 8-10 inches in diameter.

But on all of the cars I've owned.. the temperature switch for this fan was the buggar in the water neck..

Someone post a pic of the switch at the bottom drivers side of the stock radiator..

I just rifled through about four water pump housings.. no switch in that position, just a blank spot..

its DEFINATELY a switch.... If its factory.. its something JDM, you might not have to hook it up to anything...

HOWEVER... it MAY have been drilled and tapped in by someone else.. I re-drilled and mounted my haltech water temp sensor in the stock location.. it looks just like the factory did it......

I think YoD is probably right. The S4 only had one sensor fitted there stock (the ECU thermosensor) but there is a blank boss cast into the housing that can be drilled and tapped to fit a sensor. That was probably done to your one.

So you don't need to connect it to anything, becaause your S4 has nowhere to connect it to. If you feel like fitting an aftermarket temp gauge, that's the perfect spot for the sensor.

The sensor with the harness on it brings back memories of a first generation sensor. I can't quite place it though. It makes me think its the water thermo sensor that is the one that has had the hole drilled and tapped for it.

Thx guys. Well There is no fan from the car I pulled it from. Like I said it looks like it was never hooked up. The car I pulled the motor from was bone stock. The car I have the motor in is far from stock so no fan there :-/. I think I will keep it, seeing as you have clarifyd it is a temp sensor and use it for a temp reading to turn on Efan when I move to one, Or go haltech.

On a series FOUR, the temp sensor for the auxillary fan is a ONE WIRE sensor. I doubt the two wire one in the picture will work. I've seen that sensor somewhere before, can't quite remember where.

This is the temp switch Hailers just referred to. Cars that didn't have the e-fan didn't have the temp switch either, so the car that this engine came from did have a fan when it left the factory.

It seems to me, someone with a SERIES FIVE could confirm whether or not the sensor on the right with the harness on it is a series five water temp switch or not. I've never seen a series five before. A series four has ONE wire going to it and NO harness attached.
