What sensor is located near the high water pump?

I dropped my new motor in and everything seems to be running great, but I haven't really got on it yet.

We found that the wiring harness is run a little wrong and a sensor on the neck between the thermostat and the pressure cap at the top of the neck is unplugged.

My temp gauge seems to be working, but is a little lower than I am used to seeing (1/4 of the gauge at most).

Is this sensor important for anything? I noticed on my old engine it isn't even there! If I have to plug it in, I will have to splice a piece of wire in to make it stretch far enough, b/c it won't reach now.

Help?

I beleive this sensor controls the extra electrical cooling fan in front of the motor for a TII. Not 100% on this one.

That would explain why it doesn't do anything for me, b/c I don't have one of those fans!

(Almost did, parts car had one but it had a broken blade)
