what sensor did i break?

88 vert.

I was taking the alternator off to get it tested and I broke the sensor in the actual connector off really close to the alternator by the coolant neck.

Also on a side note how can I remove the broken part in the connector without breaking the connector?

The connector has a clip that holds the sensor into the connector.
take that clip off and use a "pick' or something to get your old piece out.
You can get the sensor at Mazda.
