What is this potted thing?

I'm tearing down the engine and just noticed this potted thing with a single wire attached to it. It's located by the oil fill tube.
What is it?

Do they all come with knock sensors? B/c I have had the manifolds off my S4 and I did not see that. Let alone you could prolly see it with the manifolds on.

If im noit mistaken only turbo models had a knock sensor. Stock n/a run too ******* pig rich to knock.
