What goes here? It's to the left of the Oil Sending Unit below the Filter Pedestal.
(S5 T2)

What's this unit inbetween the Fuel Injector inputs with the 2 (Vacuum?) hoses coming out of it? Where do the hoses run to?

So have I. Can I just block off the Cold Start Assist?

Question about blocking off the OMP. I got the plate and shizzle to do it. But the little thingy is sticking out like 4mm. How can I push that in so the block off plate will be flush with the front cover? Do I have to take the front cover off and remove that gear thing?

It's technically called the "sub zero assist" system, and Mazda recommends getting rid of it.
Yes, you may use a block-off plate on it.

I dunno...really.
There's a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued by Mazda to all it's dealers to throw that thing away.

LOL. Thank you for enlightening me. Was it merely a TSB or a proper recall?

No recall.
Just a TSB, which meant that this was voluntary for Mazda dealers.
Recalls made it mandatory.

Not COLD START. SUB-ZERO. Something rarely seen in real life in Texas.

It injects/injected a starting fluid when the sensor in the pan detected a temperature below 3.2 F or 16 C.

Its shown in the free, online, fsm.

90 percent anti-freeze and 10 percent water. It's in the fsm.
