verts have a final drive ratio of 3.9 vs 4.1 in most other second gens and weigh like 300? lbs more. being verts i think they were more designed as a cruiser than a purist sports car but they should still outhandle most of the stuff on the road.

92k miles on an 88 vert in good condition for 2200 sounds like a deal to me. go for it if you like the car.

Only the 88 has the 3.9 rear end, (all other years got the 4.1 no matter what tranny) and the 88 only weighs like 50 lbs more than a T2.

In fact with every single option in 88 the 'vert only weighs 3003 lbs. In non P package trim the 88 is closer to 2900 lbs.

Yes, convertibles are slow when compared to the coupe non-turbo RX-7's, but they are fast enough for most people to enjoy, and they handle better than most convertibles on the market.

See this site for pricing:

$2200.00 sounds like a fair price. I was looking for several months for a Vert on Cars.Com. Seldom do you see one for that low a price.

$2200 is a dandy price for a 'Vert. If it checks out ok, buy it.
