i just bought this 88 GXL, for 300 bucks, anyway, the guy said it ran till he took this part off. it does have ALOT of miles on it, 233,000 but i plan on getting a t2 to put in once i pay my credit card down a little, but i want to drive it in the mean time. but its missing a part.
if your looking at the engine the intake says 13b mazda then it looks like theres something missing, it has three hoses that should fit something and a connector. what goes here???

 

looks like your missing the tb(throttle body) and the intake tube

 

look at the firewall by the driverside and see if you see the acelerator cable coming from the gas pedal. Follow it from where it comes through the firewall and over to the engine. If it isn't hooked up to anything, then the throttle body is probably missing. Now look at the front of the car where the air intake is and the air filter are. To the left on the passenger side there should be a square metal box (air flow meter) a plastic intake arm leading up to the intake. This is the intake components leading to the throttle body.

 

i think i have the throttle body. like you said after the air flow meter, the hose goes to the (what i think is the throttle body). it says 13b and mazda on top of it right. i have that , and i have the runners under it. but what i dont have is the part that bolts onto the side of that, it has three hoses , small hoses and a electrical connector

 

Your description leaves something to be desired, man.

I think he might be talking about the BACV.. ?

 

the tb doesnt say mazda 13b on it the tb is what connects to it. if u have it it will have 2 platess first then 3 plates behind that.

 

agh, i dont know how else to explain it, its not there i dont know what it looks like, right on top of my engnie it says 13b injection then mazda then there looks like there should be something attatched to the side of that there are hoses there that go to nothing on the drivers side. i have looked all through the haynes manual, and they show it on the engine but dont say what it is

 

ok, i know what it is that says 13b injection, its the dynamic chamber. am i supposed to habe something attatched to the right side of that??

 

it is the BAC valve, im sorry , i just went through the haynes manual with a comb and found it, thanx
