People say don't run synthetics sometimes. Go to racingbeat.com and they run synthetic and we all know they know what they're doing. Most everyone on here has said to run the castrol gtx. Thats what I use.

I use Castrol GTX20w50. But , those who live in cold climates, need to use thinner oil such as multi viscosity oil 10w30 or 10w40. 20w50 is too thick for cold climates. When the weather gets warm then switch over to the thicker oils. The reason they say not to use synthetics is because they don't burn like petro oil. They leave a sticky residue all over the combustion chambers.
I used Amsoil til I rebuilt and when I saw what it did, I switched without hesitation.
There is no reason to use synthetics with the OMP. It injects oil to burn. It's not a return cycle so you are wasting that expensive oil. If you use premix (not OMP), then it can be used since oil isn't injected into the chambers.

Castrol GTX has worked well for me for over 14 years. The owner's manual says not to use synthetic oil in the engine. You can use some synthetic oils in the engine, but they are not worth paying 4x the price unless you are on the race track. However, synthetic oil is definitely worth using in the transmission and differential (I like Red Line). See your owner's manual or factory service manual for the correct weight of oil for your driving conditions.

20W50 is fine in climates down to 20F. Check out the factory service recommendations.

and recent studies show 10W40 and 10W50 should never be used in high performance engines, because of the additional additives needed to get to that viscosity range. these additives do not burn off as well and can lead to cokeing and build up.

10W30 should only be used in a rotary when the temps are between -10F and 80F. Using it in above 80F will lead to oil failure.
