TPS and brakes question
hi all:
I have come across this thread about TPS adjusting solving the problem of stalling when brakes are applied
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ht=stalls+idle
When brakes are applied at idle, I assume the rpm will drop a tad (without the throttles moving, right ?) then go back to idle.
I don't understand why the TPS would be involved in this since the throttle position does not appear to change (from an idle position) as the rpm drops.
I am also not sure why the rpm would drop when applying the brakes. Is it due to the brake booster or the stop lights, or both.
Any help is appreciated on this since I am quite confused
Thanks,
Hugues -

If the TPS is out of adjustment, then idle quality can be affected by any load that is placed on engine. It also affects the smoothness of on/off transitions when pushing gas pedal. Hitting brakes is a load b/c, yes, like you said brake lights come on and brake booster sucks some of the vacuum out of engine.

If the TPS is messed up, the car will exhibit all kinds of problems, from lower power, to rough idle, to stalling, etc. If your TPS is adjusted correctly, and you are still experiencing idle problems with the brakes applied then the problem is probably the BAC valve....
Applying the brakes can effect your idle because it places a load on the engine.
