What is this nasty film on my widow?!?!

It develops at the bottom of the widshield (inside) and is hard as hell to get off and keeps coming back. Nasty stuff!!! Anyone know what causes it?

Coolant.

Either coolant is leaking from the cruddy fittings or your heater core is compromised.
I bet if you pull the carpet by the stock ECU, you'll see signs of coolant on the floor.

that would explain the loss of coolant lately..... damn! I'm hoping it's not the core, what's the best / easiest way to find out?

if the heater core was blown though, wouldn't I be leaking a LOT of coolant?

Man, there is nothing I love more than removing my dash! Putting it back together is almost twice as fun.

I recommend some plastic baggies, masking tape, any color sharpie, and a helper buddy to make the reinstall as painless as possible. A helper is almost a must when you have to hook the dash vents back up. Make sure the speedometer cable clicks into place or you'll have to take the instrument cluster back out to fix it.

Gotta love the sharpie ziplock combo.. I'm taking advantage of that during my build-up. My garage looks like Sgt Ziplock got agent orange.
