What motor shoud i put in my rx7 86 sport
each motor comes with every thing but the body of the car.
I looking at buying a 13bt with 210hp for $1,000
or 13btt with 280hp for $2,500
or a chevy small block 350
I was hopeing you can give me your advice and 1/4 mile times of your stock 13bt, 13btt, and 350's thanks

chevy block : do you wear a bulletproof suit? you're gonna get hostile comments about this option
13bTT : too much work and money for what it's worth, lot of custom fabbing
choose the 13Bt option : straight drop in if you have all the stuff needed. For the price of a 13btt swap, you can have a mildly modded 13bt swap that will have around the same amount of power without custom fabbing an engine crossmember....

With that money you're thinking about doing an engine swap, invest in a rebuild kit and rebuild your ORIGINAL motor.
It'll give you the least amount of hassles, and you end up with an engine that will last another 20 years...

I like how you said the 13t too, that what i been thinkg, it is $1,500 cheeper and i can use that money on more upgrades and hopfully make it faster in the long run for the price. I then can use my 13b n/a for spare parts for if i ever need them.

Zigma your alright, I agree with your thinking. Keep the V8s in the Camaros and Mustangs. There is nothing wrong with those cars. The V8 fits em, those cars fit the V8s when I hear a V8 I expect to see somthing along the lines of a Camaro. Hearing the V8 sound coming from a RX7 just does not fit. Its like seeing a dog meow like a cat. With that said I would go with a nicely built 13bt. Thats just my opinion. Anyway I am glad you ruled out the V8.

s4 13BT. easy drop in, only a few parts to buy if you get a longblock, and lots of room for upgrades. plus, its the right motor for the car.
13BTT-- bad idea, real hard and not much better
V8- well...you can get lots of power without upgrading too much, but its a lot of work, and most people will hate you, because the rotary just fits so well with the rx7 and its kind of a cult thing.

The people that rebuild there motors every year are the people who are always pushing the limit (common, 400+hp from 1.3L, lil bit of stress there)
Or
the people who beat the crap out of there engine / neglect it / dont know what they are doing
Myself id drop a 13bt in it, bolt in affair, make some decent power and be streetable

depends if you want good low end torque and gas mileage(with a six speed) and dont want to rebuild it for a while, go with the 350. if you want to keep its "spirit" alive then go with the 13bt. just get ready for alot of money gone to rebuilds.

Go with a well built 13BT with the upgrades, like 3mm seals and so on. If the engine is built for the 400rwhp from the get go you will be fine. If you wanna take a Jspec and push 400RWHP out of it thats another story. I would say the price of a LS1 is gonna be about the same a well built 13BT. Unless you wanna junkyard jewel LS1. Then you may come in cheaper.
