What to look for when getting an 86 with a seized engine

I found a 86 not sure what model model it is yet, but what should I look out for? The lady I spoke with told me the exterior was good aswell as the interior. Just the engine stoped and will not turn over. I am hoping it is carbon locked and I can do the AFT trick to it. the car has 130k miles and they are asking $500 for it.

Iam not looking for a car that I can get crazy performance out of right now, I just need one and have limited cash. Plus it would be a fun project car when I finally get my GTUs.

So what should I look out for?

See if the electrical systems work...and that the physical condition of the car is in good shape. That's about all you can do.

A rotory engine cannot seize up unless there is a large chunk of something in one of the rotor housings and I can't think how that could happen - carbon will not do it! unless apex seals have gone completely and the rotors have gouged chunks of alloy of the housing, or the bearings have gone, in which case the engine is toast.

Or, as I have seen locally, piston plugs have been inserted.

The engine is dead, probably only half rebuildable if that, so the main thing Id look for when buying such a car, is...(drumroll)

ANOTHER ENGINE!

lol

thx guys, I pretty much figured I will give it a try and if it dosn't work after some tinkering then I will still make some money by parting it out

I doubt it's seized... go look at the car, open the hood and grab hold on one of the belts and try to rotate the engine(watch your fingers!!!)

If it turns it could still be good..

Do you have a voltmeter? do you know how to check to see if the starter is dead?? Alot of things will stop it from cranking.. Get back to us with more info.
