What is this Line/hose coming off of the exhaust?

So I’m installing my true dual Racing Beat system. I see it has the provisions for the back pressure line to operate the aux ports, but there’s a much thicker hose coming off of the stock back pressure pipe that goes to the back of the engine, and there are no provisions for that on the headers. What does that hose go to???

I take it that you have the header with this guy attached?

And are you looking at a pipe that looks like this?

To my understanding, you modify the split or they provide a tube to the 5th and 6th ports to keep the actuators moving. I use a collected RB exhaust, so mine looks right up to the that tube near the center of the car, yours won't need to go that long with the road race exhaust and hence the tube off your headers near the top of the header.

Hope that helps.

Yeah my headers have that little back pressure tube, and I ran a vacuum line from that to the little steel line I THINK operates the 5/6s. They don’t seem to be opening anymore, car feels sluggish above 4K. Probably wrong hose who knows. I was mostly meaning the big old thick hose that feeds directly off of the split air. Is that where the AIR injection system puts in air? If so, how on earth would removing the AIR pump affect the idle at all?

The smaller line should go to the 5th and 6th ports.

Did you block off the ACV?

You only need the ACV itself. The split air pipe should connect to the back of the LIM.

Removing the ACV only effects emissions, so it won't change anything for power. Make sure there is a new gasket however.

Can you snap a photo?

Camera is arsed on my phone unfortunately. Can I just cap where the hose goes into the LIM and be fine? Would leaving that open cause problems? I’m removing the ACV on lunch tomorrow. Good news is after installing the exhaust my car runs MUCH better than with the old exhaust. Also I found that the hose I ran got Kinked at the nipple and wasn’t providing back pressure. Gonna run better hose tomorrow too.

the air pump air goes do different places depending on RPM and load. at idle it goes to what Mazda calls "Port Air", the exhaust ports. for deceleration and some other conditions, it uses the "Split Air" pipe. then over ~3000 its just vented

its all in the Training Manual, http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/Tr...ol_Systems.pdf

So seeing as how I have no more ports on my exhaust I can fairly safely just yank the ACV and AIR pump back out and cap the lines
