Angry what kinda sh*t is this??

Well i picked up a 88 GXL sunday night.. thought it was this great deal from my buddy joe car is in good condition and has 30k on the motor and clutch with reciepts. when i bought the car it drove great, and ever since monday its been hell, the only thing wrong with the car when i bought it that i knew of wat the pass side rear spindle.. well turns out the diff mount is broke, the trans mount, pass side motor mount, the trans is now screaming(never beat on the car since i have had it for these past 5days) and is really hard to get into any gear.. and today when i picked my girl friend up from school the shifter broke off.. now i am shifting with this 3" nub.. and the car is suspose to have new brakes on it(rears i know for sure are) but the fronts are shot.. rotors are warped bad.. the alinment is fucked.. i looked at the front of the car and the pass tire is strait and the drivers in out to the left a little..

i think this is all the bullshit.. you guys think this was worth the $800 i payed for it?? you can check out the FS link if you want.. this car is itsnicetoburnrice old car..

800 is not bad if the body and interior are acceptable. All you need is about 2-300 bucks worth of junk yard parts to fix those problems.

Diff mounts break all the time...I have an extra one available. The shifter? Thats kinda odd. Hard to say if it was worth the $800 or not. There is one here for sale for $550 that I may go look at tomorrow. Looks like it may be a GXL.

looks like you found yourself a project!! from what you listed, the motor is still ok, and that along with a straight body is well worth the $800.....hell--I bet you wanted a short shifter anyway!! for real, it won't take all that much cash to get it fixed up so long as you dont have a shop do it all, but I am not really sure about that transmission. I guess I got very lucky with mine....86 GXL, all stock with 87K original miles and I got it for $300....all it needed at the time was a stereo, brake job, and the set to replace the broken springs and seals on the shifter. Look on the bright side...you coulda just spent $2000 on it and had these things break now....

I guess i must of gotten lucky i bought my 88 gxl for $800 and all i did to it was a brake job and a tune up and my car runs great but the bad thing is i have 159k miles on it but it runs really strong. Just dont give up on it go to the junk yard and replace everything you need to replace its cheap and easy

always expect to put about 1,000 into any used car you buy. $800 is an awsome deal. Look at it this way, I'm going to buy a microtech in a month or so and that's damn near that much...for a little computer. I'd say the min value for any car that runs is $500.00

Shut the hell up. I payed 3800 for my car and the ******* motor blew, it only had 67K miles on it. I sold the bitch. Put fluid in the tranny.. and fix those small *** problems and you'll have a good car. turn the rotors, fix the mount(s), and resolder anything electrcial. Hell.. sell the car to me for 900 and id be happy as is, ****. It shouldnt take more than two days to fix all that petty **** you are talking about.

The guys are right. For $800 if the body is straight the rest is gravy. It sounds like your gravy is a little lumpy but it is still gravy!

Mazda recycling, yeah. That's the ticket. Home of people who have never seen a NOS'd rotary, people who cant wire up a simple electrical circuit properly, and people that spend 2 days putting in a set of secondary injectors.

Did you watch Monster Garage Monday night? That's where Kevin's rant is coming from.

As for the $800 car...

Didn't you inspect it at all before you bought it? I'm not plunking down $800 without doing a damned good inspection of what I'm buying. Everything you've described sounds relatively simple to fix.

800 buck gives you a decent parts car to work with if she doesnt get fixed. Either that or make it a junkyard special
