What Just Happened?!?!

ok to start off with i think my car has some overheating problems so i dont' knwo if has any thing to do with this, but i was racing yesterday, first race eversince i got the car started, and the car seems fine till i hit red line in third gear, and the car just dies. at first i though one of my vacuum hoses came off or the fuel got cut off, but i have a fcd. so i checked the engine but i couldn't find any loose hoses. So i tried to start the car again, and the car won't turn over, i can only hear a high pitched winding sound or something like that when i try to crank it. so i tried to push start the car, and it seems like its gonna start, it would turn on and jump to 1500 rpm and just die, i step on the gas and all it does is backfire really loud a couple times till it dies, but rpm don't go up when i step on the gas. Any one had the same problem? i hope i didnt blow a seal or anything...i think it alreay has a bad coolant seal. by the way its a t2 if that helps. thnx in advance for the help, this is my daily driver so far since my other rx7 is getting a rebuild, so i need this one to run

ok so probably i need a new bov or a new starter? nothing major like a blown seal or any thing right? thats what im afraid of, i just replaced the starter a couple days ago and the bov is also a hks ssqv. any one else have suggestions? thnx alot for the help im gonna try to put back my stock bov and see if it works tommorow but it don't sound like a boost leak though becuase it sounds like the starter is winding/screeching when you crank it, then when you push start it and you step on the gas it seems like theres no gas comming in becuase the rpms don't go up, it just backfires and dies.

It could be flooded. If you have a backfire you have gas. You may have a bad injecotr or somthing. Also cheack your wires on the starter one time I had a starter problem and just checked all the starter wires and it worked again.

ok thnx, ill check the wires, how can i tell if its bad? the little wire that connects to the starter is showing a little bit of metal, does that mean its bad? or i should just change the whole thing then. but the most important question is the motor can't be blown right? because one of the guys that stoped and helped me push the car said he worked on rx7s before and siad i might have blown a seal, but then again he told me that 2nd gens come with 12a engines.

Good news your engine is fine. It sounds like the car has been sitting before you got it started, your overheating problem is problaly comming from your coolent pasages. The minerals tend to build up and can cause hard flakes to form in the radiator and coolent passages, they usully block the flow passages in the radiator causing the water to over heat and put strain on your water pump. Flush out your coolent system very well then refill it with the proper coolent to water ratio.

Next, that high pitched wine is your fuel pump it's still working so that's a good thing. It sounds like you have a vacuum leak, check the BOV and hose connections for leaks or cracks. Tape up or replace the starter wire that is exposed.

Tell me if this helps.
