what is involved...please help
i am going to sell my fd and keep the motor and tranny and pick up an fc. should i get a t2 or na or does it matter? what else should i look to take out (very important question)? any specific electronics? i did a search but came up with nothing because i didn't ave 3 letter words(?), does anyone have a website that shows an installation a fd 13b to a fc and what is needed?
and for anyone that wants to know why i am going from an fd to an fc is because i can't afford the fd, for a car that i drive 3 months out of the year and have to pay an incredible price for insurance (and finace) it is not worth it. the problem is ever since i learned about rotaries i can't stop thinking about it and always want to uprgrade, but can't afford to. i can purchase an fc use it as a project car (build over time), not have to put insuranace on it till its built and get the same reults as my fd without the looks.
if anyone wants a fd body, i will sell it soon, after i learn more about what i am trying to do.

I have no personal experience on the subject, but have seen numerous threads that state it's as difficult or more difficult than installing a 20b in an FC. I predict that most of the responses you're going to get are "sell the whole car and use it it finance a T2". Unless you've just modded the heck out of the FD motor, you'll probably be time & money ahead to just get the money out of the whole package and buy exactly what you want to start with.
But, don't let that stop you from doing what you want to do. I'm just reiterating what most folks will say on here...

Its very hard becuase of the way the motor mounts are setup, plus you need to worry about engine control.
Basically you need to do all the same type of things involved in a 20b swap... ie mounts, fuel, ecu, cooling, exhuast, intake....

why is it that you need to worry about the samething for a 20b when they make conversion kits for it? and don't the 20b and fc t2 motors mount the same way? please inform me.

some what the same, they mount closer than a 13brew any day and by the way soul assassin has a 13brew intake and a custom adapter so it will fit to his s5 engine....actually i have no experience of engine swaps that arent a 13b or 13bt but i think being you have the engine trans and all that crap there you are already half way home just mounting and wiring.... i would personally go for it and get an 88gtu because of it being as light as an 86 base model and the suspension of a turbo II but then again if you have money to spare just get a base model and put all aftermarket stuff on it....

If you stare at the 13B-REW out of an FD3S and the stock FC3S engine bay, you'll understand how difficult this swap is.  I am not aware of any shop that offers pre-made mounts for this conversion.  So unless you got good fabrication/welding skills or know of a shop that can do this for you, it's nothing short of "difficult".
This 13B-REW swap into an FC is more of an "eye candy" thing.
Bottom line, it's really not worth doing this swap, since you're only gaining maybe 5% to 10% more power potential out of the 13B-REW.  The FC3S 13BT is more than adequate in most situations, and big power FC owners just jump to the 20B...

20b project it is. i just found out, after contacting my bank, i don't owe that much on the car (my fd, but still to much to pay all at once this time) so for whatever i sell it for will go to the purchase of a fc and a 20b. thanx guys.
