what I got in the mail today

I need to go to emmissions test again soon.

so with all my stock emissions stuff gone. ripped the air pump, ACV, and the whole vac rack off.

so this came in the mail today

93+ LT1 corvette electric smog pump. mount it somewhere. stick a breather filter on the "IN" run heater hose outa the "OUT" and connect to the metal pipe going to the cat. (not to the cat itself it'll just melt the hose, need the middle metal peice that goes to the firewall)

wire it up with a switch in the car. pull up to test, flip the switch. should be good with all stock stuff removed 8) 8)

we'll find out soon.

got it off ebay for $35usd

Nice, as you know I put back on the airpump and just ran a hose straight to the cat. If this works, I'll just hook up a switch in the car and buy a lt1 electric air pump. I hate messing with the air pump and the belts.

I think I just gonna move out to the sticks where emissions aren't needed.

I second that. This sound like a great idea for passing emissions.

That same pump can be ran for up to 90 minutes at a time. I was going to use that very same pump for my fully blown auxillary port setup project but found the air pump I'm using to be sufficient enough.

Provided you have a cat, your laughing.

I love the sticks. I doubt the cops would care if I had open headers. My car doesn't look like something out of fast and the furious so they ignore me.

Guys, it does work. I was the first to do it two years ago and it worked exceptionally well.

That's pretty slick! He went through the trouble of doing it for the stock emissions components.. I like that alot!

yep idea came from him along time ago

I was playing with it today. and it seems to fit perfect in the pass firewall corner. even with the charcoal can, cruise control, and ABS

I never figured I'd get it in there without removing something.

how big is it? Can you take a pic with a coke can or something similar to give a size comparison.

Where do buy vacuum hose? I can't find them. Try autozone, ace hardware, and local auto part store. Anybody got any other ideas.

switched 12v from the wiper harness to relay. (a wire that doesn't even go into the motor. just ends ) oh well means the wipers won't stop working if something goes wrong. a plus

still need to run hose to the cat. and wire the switch in the car.

Do you intend to leave this there indefinately? - (operational all the time) Or is it just something you'll rip out after the e-test?

abarlas: Seems like you're trying to jack this thread from Scott. That's weird that Autozone didn't have any. The one here had a feet or two sold in plastic packages. They also had bulk in the back when I asked for it. Not sure what else is up there in Chi-town. How about trying Pep Boys, O'Reillys... or dealer (for a bend-over)? I got some silicone tubes off the internet also.

This actually pump piqued my interest, since I also ripped off emissions stuff... but wait, I have no cat, so dammit!

I'm not trying to steal anybody thunder. I incorrectly post the vacuum hose question. I found the hose at Napa.

Scott 89t2:

Where does the outlet hose go from the pump? Did you attach it to the split air pipe (the pipe that leads to the cat)

I'm very interested if you pass emission.

yes it goes to the split air pipe. it's not hooked up yet as you need to get under the car to do it. so I haven't bothered yet.

the pump will work fine as long as my cat is still good. that is my only concern.
