what the hell is this thing!?

theres this THING i found on my intake manifold on my s4. its above the injectors and has a strange Y shape to it. its held to the manifold by 1 10 mm nut.. or possibly 12mm.

what concerns me is that its been capped off except for the inflow part.

what does this thing do?

why is it there?

why is it capped off?

im searching for pictures of series 4 manifolds.. lemme go look at it again.

okay its right below the first fuel rail, and it does seem to be attached to a tub on the passengers side.. next to the carbon canister that has coolant residue in it.

its attached with a single bolt, and i cant figure out why its only attached to that one tank..? isnt it supposed to attach to something else, and why would it be disconnected and capped off anyways?

Tub??? Bath tub?

Think FSM. Think SubZero Start System. Think Factory Service Bulletin that remove this part.

Take the 10mm nut off and remove the unit from the intake and put it on the shelf. Put a dab of JBWELD in the holes open holes that are under that unit. REmove the studs that held it on. Put the plastic bottle and attachments on the shelf also. Save them. Someday, someone, somewhere will want to make a full original restoration of his car and want that system. YOu can sell him the whole package for ........fifty bucks if he's desperate. Not a penny under forty five.

All right, don't get too excited, take it easy, one hole at a time

I'm going to enjoy your future post when you figure out how many holes are in your rotor housings, lol....

okay this is really strange. there are no holes underneath the unit. in fact, its only held on by ONE bolt. i found a blocked off nipple nearby.. but this is why im so confused.
