What the hell happend? kinda long
So today my car wouldn't start for no apparent reason. I was driving for a little bit (10mins) then let the car sit for an hour. Got back in and it wouldn't start. The engine was turning but there was no ignition? I searched and I'm sure that the engine was not flooded (no gas smell and didn't keep pumpin the gas pedal) So any ways had the car towed to my local mazda, where this tech guy hops in the drivers seat and cranks it up. And it started???? He also brought the car up to 6000 rpms for like a minute and just listened to the engine. At this point I had no Idea what he was dong. Then after all that he simply put more antifreeze and that was it. He told me that the next time the car hass trouble starting to hold down the gas pedal TO PREVENT FLOODING..... IS this true. Or is there something else wrong with the car????
thanks.
thanks.
Yes I do, you probably didnt let it get up to operating temprature. FCs dont like to be driven for short distances. IT tends to flood them out. 10 mins is borderline. You should always let it warm up fully before you shut it down. It happens to mine every once in a while, and all I have to do is floor the pedal, and it starts up. I have a fuel cut-off switch, but I rarely use it.

HOLY COW! An honest dealer that actually had a clue? Your car was flooded. You probably should consider having your injectors cleaned- but I would start by running a couple bottles of injector cleaner through your car. (the kind you put in the gas tank.)

The 89 and newer cars your supposed to hold the pedal to the metal to unflood the car. Thats not true on 86-88 cars though...........unless it works for you, then it applies to your car too.
