What the heck does the S5 Pressure sensor do?

I have been getting a Pressure sensor out of my s5 n/a motor for quite some time now.

The the thing has no broken wires, I tested them with a voltmeter. The sensor could be bad.

Either way I cant idle, and theres 2 things left that could be causing it. The pressure sensor, is one of them.

So what does this thing do? How does it apply to the engine? What happens to you guys if its unpugged?

From what i know about how the s5 ecu works, it doesnt use the MAP sensor to adjust the pulse width along the fuel curve, it still uses the MAF. The MAP sensor acts as sort of a compensation factor. I know for a fact that it will run pig rich if its unplugged. Which, unfortuntely for you, probably isnt the cause of your non-idling problem. I was testing the s5 computer for awhile, and ran with the map sensor unplugged, it was pig rich across the board, but it idles and drove ok.

yeah i think they mostly use it like a vacuum advance.
the fc engine management is like the electronic version of an old british car with a distributor and su carb

Well I took it to a shop a little while ago, to get a second set of eyes to look the thing over, and he told me that it was running VERY rich. He also tested for vacuum leaks and said without a doubt there were NONE. he said gas came pouring out of the spark plug holes when he pulled the plugs. He also said I needed alot more miles on the motor. Currently it has 120. FYI I also got my injectors cleaned.

I tested all the wires and they check out ok, but heres the last part I'm not sure about. If my vacuum was too low, could that cause the sensor to throw a code? I currently have about 5-10 inches of vacuum. I'm not sure for a rotary but on a piston engine thats horrible vacuum? How much vacuum should I be reading?

Geeze it causes it to run rich and have bad timing. Sounds like a recepie for a bad idle to me. Looks like I'll have to replace the sensor. Anyone know where I can find one? I checked mazdatrix and a few other sites and they dont have one.
