what has everyone removed off thier fc???

i really want to know because im doing a good weight reduction car since NA's need as much power as possible.

So Far on my list (please tell me if good)

Air Pump
Power Steering + Tubing
Air Conditioning
AC Condenser + Tubing
Radio + Equalizer
Room Control Unit
Heater Blower + all vents under dash
Rubber Matting under carpets

What else can i do to weight reduct without making the interior bad?
(bad eg: NO CARPET, NO SEAT, DOOR PANELS etc...)
hmmm i thinking i named everything in the interior of the car besides the dash um plus dash.

Is this thing going to be a daily driver? Its going to be quite uncomfortable without a/c and heater. If you are going all out here are some things you can remove:

tow hooks~10lbs
spare tire and jack
BAC valve since you dont have a/c or PS
kick panel on passenger side floor
glove box door is kinda heavy from what Ive heard
plywood in hatch if you dont have storage compartments

Taking weight off your car doesnt add any power BTW, it just makes you faster.

I started with an 87 base w/o sunroof but with ac, no other options. I removed:

AC compressor, condensor, dryer, lines, section under dash
All four tow points
Exhaust manifold heatshield on the chassis (my header is heat wrapped)
Power antenna
Steel hood, replaced with aluminum
Front bumper reinforcement, mount brackets, foam
Hood latch reinforcement bar
Side stiffeners and center crosspiece in the frame in front of the radiator
Brake ducts
Air pump silencer garbage
Rats nest
Tar under the carpet
Sound deadening mat on firewall
ECU mount plate, ECU remounted on firewall
Misc. sound deadening mats under the carpet
Shifter center boot replaced with a taped on rubber glove
Cut out 90% of the steel dash reinforcement, keeping only the dash to chassis mount points
Cut useless wires out of the doors, removed rubber boots connecting doors to chassis
A few small mounting brackets in the engine bay (for sensors, relays, and the horns)
Rear anti-sway bar and mount plates
Phone dial wheels in favor of vert wheels (1.5lb per wheel weight savings)
Stock flywheel in favor of aluminum flywheel
Cigarette lighter and mounting pieces

The engine will be ported with a header . . . the goal is 200+ flywheel horsepower and 2400 pounds wet.

Let's see how large my list of removed stuff is...
All A/C parts, Power steering (power rack remains) no cold start assist, charcol canister, all carpet removed(tar and padding also), spare tire/jack, stock viscus fan, window washer bottle/nozzles, heater core (bypassed coolant hose), blower motor (underdash), aluminum hood, removed tow hook from rear, front/rear fiberglass bumper support, exhaust heatshields (almost all gone), extra pullys (from main hub) power sunroof motor, rear washer bottle/nozzles..... and i THINK that's it,

You figure a stock 86 GXL is around 2800 right? in the past year i alone lost 50 lbs... so with me in the car and a half tank i TELL my self the car is around 2500 lbs... could be more, could be less, dunno

Stock S4 GXL is closer to 2680, you must be thinking of a S5 with the 2800 figure.

The previous owner removed all emissions equipment on my car and as well as AC pump/bracket. Even the charcoal canister, cold start assist, various other stuff under the hood. Also has removed AFM (running stand a lone. ) Removed stock radio too. My TII never had power steering as well so with a manual rack, its lighter. Not to mention aluminum hood.

Also, I took out the spare tire and jack/tools. But I put in a small toolset and fire extinguisher in the car just in case. Next on the weight reduction list is possibly lighter rims and a new upgraded exhaust system (for more power too.)

No radio and no sound deadening will drive you insane if this is your daily driver. Trust me.

Removing the CPU would be a very dumb thing to do. You would lose your indicators, brake lights and horn, plus various warnings including the alternator light. You should figure out what this stuff does before you start ripping it out at random to save less than a pound.

I am constantly amazed at how many of you guys are willing to turn your cars into shitty, worthless beaters just to go a little faster. Some of the stuff you've removed borders on idiocy. If you wanted a fast, light car, you should've bought a car that was lighter and/or more powerful to start with.

I left the sound deadener in. Looking to add a new radio/CD deck to my car though. I'd go crazy too.

My sports 2400lbs, and that's still with a full interior & the Cd player from the factory, that thing weighs more than my engine.

Remove the rubber/leather on the steering wheel along with the horn button, vacuum all the dirt from the floor, remove all ***** and buttons from your switches, shave 3/4 of the fiber from the carpet, get rid of your change from the ashtray, put on tires with very little or no tread left, get brake pads that are almost to the metal, or drill holes on your rear bumper like the Honda guy. I could go on but I don't want to give away all my secrets for free.

YES! Then you can get rid of your OMP and Oil cooler! And get rid of your radiator! Heat=energy! The more heat lost through your radiator the less power your motor has!
