it doenst matter, but i have a s4 na tranny
i dyno'd last time in 3rd. but have found out that 4th is the 1-1 ratio gear. and after searching it seems most people differ on this.
can we get a definate answer?

 

iv always dynoed in 4th, as instructed by the shop i went to.

 

no cause it depends. make a run in each gear, 4th might be a tad better, but on a non turbo, its going to be less than 5hp difference

 

You should try to dyno at as close to 1:1 ratio as possible. On most cars, that is one below top gear.

 

it was the difference between 120 hp and 150 hp! im running a s5 n/a engine, with full exaust, intake, safc ect with about 130k or 60k depending on wether the rebuild was a lie or not.
i ended up in 3rd with 165 hp
now ive pulled on a 03 mustang v8
but my friends s4 similar mods minus the safc and header FEELS faster. may be due to my removed ports and wired vdi.
