What AN fittings do I need to run stainless lines on stock turbo?

Been searching for about an hour, and so far have only found threads that say "Don't do it", or have no actual info at all.

What I plan to do is

6an oil feed, with restrictor, which is basically all figured out.

10an return.





My questions,

1: What fitting to I need to replace the stock banjo bolt oil feed? m12x1.5 -6an?

2: What fitting/flange will bolt to the front cover?

3: What fitting/flange will bolt to the stock turbo?

I did ss lines on my stock S5 Hybrid turbo after two stock hard lines cracked where they met the flange on the turbo end.

Engine fire and wiped out the bearings on the 2nd one where I was doing tuning pulls.

Use the stock older asbestos gasket to block heat between the turbo and oil feed flange. Its the one that says "asbestos" in the Mazda parts.

Use -4an for the oil feed, -6an is too big.

I used an oil restrictor jet between the 1/4" hardline to 1/8npt fitting and the 2 bolt fitting to the turbo as -3an is the correct size, but harder to get the parts I needed than -4an.

I recommend using at least steel hydraulic fittings at the turbo end.

What I did was run 1/4" stainless Swagelok fittings and hardline for the the first 6" to -an stainless braided hose.


Remember, inside that stainless braid it is still rubber hose that gets cooked when you shut down the engine and oil isn't flowing through it to cool it. Even aluminum an fittings will get "age hardened" to the point of getting brittle from the heat.

I used an oil restrictor jet inside the 2 bolt fitting to the turbo as -3an is the correct size, but harder to get the parts I needed than -4an.

I used the stock oil drain because its already stainless with bellows and I never had any leaks or failures.

I'm pretty sure the oil feed fittings on both ends are M14x1.5. What I used was 06an hose as I was concerned that 04an would restrict flow too much. 14mm is a hair over 1/2", so a 3/8" ID hose seemed like the logical choice.

As far as the return is concerned, I do not know the original size but 10an seems to be the common choice for these applications. It's what Aaron Cake used for both Project Tina and the Cosmo's turbo oil returns.

just did my oil feed line a few weeks ago used an m12x1.5 to -4an adapter and i believe i used a -4an t3 oil feed flange
