What a Faster??

do you think your car would be faster without having a filter on cold air intake??

Until you get a rock stuck in an apex seal or a bird stuck in your throttle body.

Faster to ruining the engine, but probably less horsepower. In most cases, a well-designed filter like those from K&N will out-flow an intake with no filter.

Actual test data by A. Graham Bell:

Flow of 850cfm Holley carb @ 1.5" Hg
823cfm Carb only
839cfm Carb + Air Horn
853cfm K&N filter with Stub Stack

Read more about it here:

(Warning: Piston engines only, but still lots of good info)

air velocity is better with a filter. too much air trying to cram in there at once will cause turbulance. not sure weather it will cause lean mixture or rich mixture. Just keep the stock air box and put a new filter in it. a cone filter flows slightly more, but if you dont block the heat it will suck in hot engine air and decrease power.
