Question what to expect to feel in driving after change tranny mount??

hi, I bought the tranny mount from brazeracing, and the metal bar from mazdatrix, and I changed it today. after tieing all bolts, started the car, and car has some funny noise that I never heard before. and the car is kind of sluggish at the first gear, and more noise at accerlation. what's going on????

here are the steps I changed the mount:
1)yesterday, I already filled up tranny with redline MT90 by jacking one side of the car up.
2)today, I jacked up the front of the car to high enough for me to get under the car.
3)I used a floor jack to support the tranny before I removed the mount
4)remove the mounts, and cleaned it.
5)installed the mount in reverse order, and just simple like that

but then the noise happened??? I wasn't sure what I did wrong, then I jacked up the car again to check everything, and tied the mount bolts a couple turns. but the noise still happened! :-)

should I have level the car to change the mount? or I forgot something to check? it should be very simple.

thanks

if the mounts are solid...there will be more noise due to vibration.

if you get solid engine mounts too...make sure you double check your hoses/clamps...they can vibrate loose.

edit. does brazeracing have a website? i have been looking for some solid mounts myself.

yes, those are considered solid mounts. so, are the noise normal??? it is completely different driving feel. I am not sure that I like the noise(vibration).

any way to keep the noise(vibration) down?

thanks

I just filled it up the day before.

so those are poly mounts which they said that needs "brake in". do you think the noise will be gone after?

I don't believe that much of a "break in" is going to change the feeling. One thing, check the trans fluid level. I see you said you jacked up I side of the car. Just make certain it's not overfilled. Even if overfilled, it shouldn't be noticed, but you might spew some fluid out the seal.

ummm, would overfilled make such noise? I thought overfille tranny fluid is not a big deal, because it will leak out from the seal?

yeah you will create foam inside the tranny and basically cause the fluid to dissapate and foam up causing damage to the tranny,, a little overflow wont kill ya,, but alot might cause some damage. and yes a overfilled tranny might make a noise

ok, here is the update:

I went home and jacked up the car with all wheels off ground, and made sure the car is level. when I loosed the tranny fluid level plug, some fluid came out. obviously, it was overfilled. OK, I drained the extra fluids, and make sure not overfilled. dropped the car and took it for a spin.

well, it feels like a little better than before, but still hear a lot noise from the tranny area, like something falling loose. but nothing from under the car. everytime I shift or accerlate, it makes some noise. but not grind.

strange????? before I changed the mounts, no noise, no problem of shifting.

Installing the Banzai tranny mounts only should not have increased vibration by any noticable amount. Are you sure you have them tight, there should be approx. 2-3 threads extending past the nut. The only other thing I can think of is that possibly your motor mounts are shot and now that you have firmed up the trans, that vibration is being tranfered to the cabin. There is a how-to on my website for testing your motor mounts.
The only thing you should really notice with the trans mounts is that all movement of the trans has stopped.
Hope this helps.
