what is drifting
The attitude of the car is sideways, but the tires actually are following the lines of the curve. It is a show technique that is basically a controlled slide throughout the duration of a curve. A powerslide is when you get the back end of the car to "step out", or fish tail, exiting a turn. During drift, the car is actually placed sideways before and during the turn, and skilled practitioners will usually return the car to a normal orientation after the turn, and drift, are complete.

Its one of those Japanese thing
They do it because instead of throwing tons of money into a car to make it fast ( which is what most American people are all about ), they have Drifting. Its a serious sport over there with teams and competitions and such. Drifitng takes more skill and control of the car...Where as drag racing and stuff is mostly HP.
...At least thats how I always picked up on it.
As for what it actually is, rico is right on.

Where have YOU been?!?
just kidding. RX-7 FC's are awesome drift cars commonly used in Japan.
Good traits for drift cars are:
50/50 weight balance (or as close as possible)
about 275 horses
Super quick stering
Rear Wheel Drive

I own an FD but have been looking to get an FC for when i don't want to drive the FD. -hehe- I guess it'd be my daily driver, and the FD my weekend warrior. Something more reliable, but still have some ***** to it. Know what i mean Vern?

anyways, if you get an FC, get a Turbo 2. 99% of the NA owners are sad because they have a slow car with an automatic. T2's have 5-speeds and much more upgradeability.
I was never "sad" with my N/A. No problems drifting or beatin Stangs and runnin with local Trans Ams. Also, drifting in an N/A can be easir because of lack of turbo lag, but that can be overcome in a turbo with prper throttle modulation and shift technique. And most n/a's bein automatic? 9/10 of any FC I have ever seen was a 5-speed......N/A or not. And more upgradeable? HA. You can mod the heck out of any FC, not just a turbo. SP, full exhaust, intake porting, auxillary port mods, drivetrain mods.....all kinds of stuff. So I spent $2k in mods/etc on my N/A and got nothing out of it? Just because you happen to have a TII, don't think that an N/A is a bad thing. Yes, I am going to go turbo, but I will ALWAYS love and respect non-turbo FCs.
Will the T2 be prone to more problems? This car will really be a daily driver/beater car for when it's raining and/or when i'll be away from the FD for more than 30-2 hours ... (class, movies, mall) But i also want some power behind it.
The FD is still new to me, i got to drive it for about 2 weeks before the engine gave out. In that time ... i got seriously worried for my car. First night i drove it, i went to the autoparts store to buy oil, filter, polish, etc. During that 2 miles drive .. i had 3 different cars slow down and stare and/or yell "nice car" ... i had one SUV full of kids all around 16 years old hang out the windows and yell **** at me ... then they drove circles in the parking lot slowing down by my car and drooling ... just made me really paranoid. hahah
You get my drift though ... So i want something nice that will be a dependable car ... with a rotary engine.
