Question What does it take to put a T2 auto tranny in a N/A auto '89?

I don't think there is an 89+ Turbo auto transmission...
I just got an 89 convertible automatic. The transmission slips a little before changing gears in City driving. Drives fine on the highway, since it just stays in one gear. I think it does about 3000rpms at 65-70mph with no slipping. The Dual TPS needs adjusting and maybe even replacing.
I don't know what it would take to get it not to slip. Or if it would need some major work. But eventually I will probably need another Tranny. I would like to put the T2 auto transmission in it, but I do not know anything about the Turbo2 RX-7s. Is the auto tranny different? Just stronger? different limits? Same limits? Can I just swap mine with the T2 one? Or are there other parts to swap as well? Thanks for any ideas.
If no 86+ automatic Turbo2 Transmissions exist, then I guess I need to find another regular automatic transmission. And if so, is there anything that can be done to make them better, stronger, or more reliable?

From what I've read, an automatic version of the TII was only available in Japan and Australia.

T2 Clutch? Then it wouldn't be an automatic any more.. I'm trying to think of a way to have a stronger automatic transmission. Or to replace or have my automatic rebuilt.

www.levelten.com they will build you a 100% bulletproof tranny! It'll cost you as much as the rest of teh car though. But as for a strong *** auto, they got it on lock.

Yeah, the 5speed conversion is the way to go really. I had mine converted and it's the best thing I've ever done. And it's really cheap compared to a racing auto.

If you wanted a auto then you would be looking at a FD auto tranny, althouigh from everything I have heard it is virtually the same tranny as the auto FC tranny.

My understanding is the FC Auto tranny is good for about 260HP/250ft lbs with standard maintenance (like 30K miles tranny fluid changes and 60k miles flush/filter replacement, which most people fail to do).

I have a s5 auto tranny f/s $400 you arrange shipping.

BTW those 2nd gen jatco auto trannies are notoriously weak, Ive had them go out as early as 100k.

But like icemark says, they probably never got so much as touched as far as maintenance.

I've had both many 5-speeds and automatic sports cars. And both types for the Rx-7 2nd gen. I do think that the 5-speed is definately more sporty in the RX-7s.

But I bought this specific Rx-7 convertible mainly because it was an automatic. I am personally tired of 5-speeds for a daily driver car and want a reliable sporty automatic transmission setup for this RX-7 convertible. My 86 Fiero SE has a nice strong auto tranny and I want that same (or better) feel in my Rx-7 now.
What is an S5 automatic transmission? Is that from an RX-7? Would it swap in place easily? If so, I would be interested. I want to take care of my transmission and drive line setup first before I start on the engine. Car has 127,000 miles, just bought it and highly doubt that the previous owner was a good car maintainence guy.
So I definately want to stay with automatic on this car for my daily driver, but I would still like a stronger auto tranny. Thanks for the ideas so far.... Can't wait to get the tranny stuff done. I really want to get started on the engine (which runs great, other than the Dual TPS crap on high mileage RX-7s)

So I take it that an s5 tranny is an FC series 5 transmission? I am not used to all the abbreviations. Sorry. If that is a correct assumption.
