what does dump mean?

What does it mean when someone says " i dumped it at 5000 rpms" ?

it means that your pressing the clutch down and the you let off as fast as you can. It causes you squel your tires.

Dump the clutch, or sidestep it. At 5000rpm in an FC you'll either wheelspin alot or something will break!

in an auto it is called a neutral drop.
it is VERY bad for the transmission.

you put it in neutral and rev the engine to the desired rpm's, then shift it into drive. its the equivelant of revving up the engine and letting off the clutch quickly, but it is really terrible on an automatic.

yeah don't do it if you don't want to replace your transmission. but after messing up my auto tranny i got a manual put in so i was happy.

yeah a cump at 5k is simply sidestepping or letting out of the clutch as fast as you possibly can as already stated in this post...and odd are if you do it with reasonable power you WILL break something.
