what does the boost/ pressure sensor do?

hi, i have a micro tech running in my car. I've broken the nipple to the stock boost sensor, and was wondering if i needed it?

So far so good. But i haven't pushed it onto boost that much. The reason i'm asking is because i didn't oversee the microtech install, and also, i have another car, n12, which uses a AFM, but also has a similar little boost sensor thing, which is used for the stock boost guage. Oh and my rx7's stock boost gauge never worked since i got the car. Thanks

oppsdouble post can someone delete?

asuming that is the only pressure sensor in the car. and the the mirco tech doesn't have another one. that is the most important part to your ECU.. and under boost your engine is gona blow.
