i noticed a 1-2 mpg increase in milage on my car with the addition of a CDI box. i'm running an MSD 6A on just my leading coils with some low impedance wires. oh and make sure you change those spark plugs. milage goes doesn as they get older.

i love this trick, just be carefull not to **** them off. dont get so close that you cant see the rearveiws poking out from either side of the trailer (this way you know they can see you)
back with my old '91 civic hatchback (70 hp ooh yeah!!) i kid you not, i got just shy of 500 miles out of a 10 gal tank doing mostly highway driving like this.
and that was back the last time you could find $1.00 gas, i seriously kept that thing fueled with my lunchmoney. lol

1, Tune-up. Plugs, wires, oxygen sensor, fuel filter, air filter.
2, Have the fuel injectors professionally cleaned.
3, Eliminate weight from the car. Remove tools, speaker boxes and other junk.
4, Drive with the windows up and the roof closed.
5, Keep the engine under 3000 rpm without lugging the engine.
6, Lighter fluids in the engine and drivetrain.
7, overinflate tires slightly. No more than 40 psi cold.
Do these first and see where your milage is. I get 25 mpg now and I haven't had the injectors done yet. Good luck.

LOL 30mpg go get honda its the cheapest way to get that done. You shouldnt have gotten an rx7 if you wanted good gas mileage. FCs are sports cars made to handle and enjoy not to commute from work and back and try to save money at the same time. and i dont understand why people put piston motors in a rotary car. This car has almost perfect weight distrabution now your goin to mess it up buy putting V6 in it. Thats a big no no in my opion. This car handles like a dream and you want it to go fast and straight go get a different car let the people that love to take corners buy this car not people who want to only go straight.
people are going try to eat my *** for what i just said but it's MY OPION so you're not going to change it.

I get 28 MPG with the top down on the highway. 24 city if I am driving conservitively, 20-19 if I am being very agressive. I keep my tires at 32 to 34psi usually.
I imagine I can pull 30 after I add a CDI box and drive with the windows and the top up, and if I went to 38 or 40psi on the tires.
This is with all emissions, A/C, and PS installed and running on 87 octane.
Buy an A/F gauge so you can see where the engine is in closed loop mode so you can drive for the most efficiency
Buy a Vac gauge so you can see where your foot should be on the throttle. (I keep it at 18 crusing and 8-10 going up hills and so on, dont be afraid to downshift librally, it HELPS fuel economy!)
Dont be afraid to rev up to 3800RPM. The car is suprisingly efficient all the way up to there!

BTW, you might want to just spend a few bucks and get an older Toyota Corolla
My 1989 Toyota Corolla SR5 gets 40MPG highway and I got it for $750!
It might be better then dumping money on mods to save gas

My GXL's freeway mileage went from 21MPG to 24MPG after I gave it a full tune-up and switched to Redline synthetic in the gearbox and diff. It jumped to 26MPG after I swapped exhaust systems. This is all with the crappy S4 ECU and heavy-*** S4 TII wheels. The key is to let the engine do the most work for the least effort. After a good tuneup, get a nice full exhaust (header is nice!) and an SAFC. Both will give you more power AND better mileage. WHat sports car owner can resist that?

You better do some research buddy, stand alones have been proven to produce those kind of numbers on 400rwhp RX-7's. So no offence but what you are trying to argue with me is BS.
Now with a tunnable closed loop system these numbers are more than possible! they are attainable! so good luck with that though. And enjoy your shitty gas millage with your 90hp civic while I will enjoy even better millage in my 300+ hp RX-7.
Have a nice day.

I wish I was driving!
I just built and tuned an 86 GT that is getting 34 MPG at 62mph right now running on Haltech tuned to 15.6.1:1 AFR's at cruise, using stock ignition with a CDI unit.

If you want good fuel economy, just get an old CRX or Civic. It will get you there without messing with the RX7

Motor's fine; I normally tune to that.
