What do I need to beat...
Hey guys, just wondering what I would need to beat a V8 firebird. It is an auto and is like a 94 model. Does anyone know what these run in the 1/4 mile anyways? Thanks.

Its just a trans am I guess. Its an auto and I've never found times for it. Its not a firehawk, just a reg ole V8. Its also the older model so I figure prolly a 15 flat or so in the 1/4 but not sure.

Hey what is the difference in a Formula or a Trans Am? The Formula is like 3/4 of a second slower in the 1/4 but these times are all for manual trannies. Anyone have personal experience with autos or these cars? Thanks.

Thanks on the avatar
Trans Am: Bloatmonster Always have the V8 (unless it's the turbo TA 3rd gen).. Usually outfitted with the most optioins, and usually the heaviest of all of the F-bodies..
Firebird Formula: Think GTUs.. Big motor, hold all the options. Usually a favorite for auto-x'ers.

The lt1's are high 13 cars, the automatic gm makes are pretty potent launch wise. He is going to take you on the bottom end because of the torque, just keep your car in the upper rpm range where your making the boost and you should be able to catch back up.

in 94 in might have been a high 13 second car. But after nearly 10 years I dare say some of the early lt1's might not be in the best shape. One of my friends in his 95 z28 auto ran a 14.4 at the track but he absolutely roasted em off the line. I don't remember the 60' time but he could easily have been low low 14's. The majority of lt1's I have seen personally run low 14's but there are many running in the 13's. Basically full exhuast and STICKY tires is what you are going to need.

Yeah, the ignition system on the lt1's seem to be the issue with the sluggish power. If he has never been to the track and doesnt know how to launch a automatic, then you shouldnt have to much drama.
