Talking What to do

Well, now that I've gotten all my A/F issues worked out, I want to put my bad boy back up to full boost by reattaching the stock EBC. The only problem is my boost creep. I have a RB 2.5" full exhaust and no FCD now. Right now, I hit fuel cut in as low as 2nd gear in cold weather with the stock EBC disabled (set at 5.5psi)

Will putting a high flow cat restrict it enough to not hit fuel cut?
If not, where in Virginia can I have my wastegate ported (by someone who knows what they're doing)? I figured dealing with all the shavings and the old hard metal will be difficult.

Thanks everyone!

The price of getting it ported will be less than the price of a high flow cat. Get it ported, no more boost creep, and no more fuel cut.

If you are going to pay someone else to port it anyway... Might as well send it to Bryan at BNR in Alabama.. he did one hell of a job on my Stage III... BNRSupercars@aol.com I have no idea what he'd charge just to port the wastegate though and add a bigger flapper, but you'll have to pull the turbo apart anyway to port it, so if you just send him the turbine housing, should be a realitively quick and much cheaper process than having a whole hybrid upgrade done.

it can be done in the garage but i'd strongly suggest letting it up to a professional unless you have a couple hundred hours experience on a die grinder and know how to use a mig welder.. (welder isn't necessary for the port job, but it helps when attaching the new flapper arm)

Not, its not rocket science.... but, if you are going to port it, you might as well put in a 35mm flapper, and thats a bit big of a job for a dremel tool... should use a die grinder......

IMO... the guys who just enlarge the hole to as big as the stock flapper can go are wasting their time...

better idea to weld on the stainless steel washer to the stock flapper and go up to about 30MM, but then, i'd always wonder if the damn washer was going to warp, or fall off...

I'd much rather pay someone to do it for me locally. Somewhere near Northern Virginia or Harrisonburg VA would be ideal.

I don't doubt the fact that I could get a die grinder/carbide bit off of a friend and do it myself... I just would prefer someone who can do it right

Another question: if I were to do it myself, what needs to be removed to get the turbo off? I did the exhaust myself which involved some heatshield cutting and I removed my ABS at the same time. The intake is stock.

My guess is that the DP, and the Intake have to come off... correct?
