and what did you forget to look for, costing you $.

 

I definitely always check to make sure the motor has good compression (also check the plugs to make sure it hasnt been running lean), check the transmission (probably the weakest part of the 7), drive shaft for play(u-joints), cooling system works properly, engine mounts in good shape, all glass in good shape(hatch's are expensive), get a history report on it for accidents, ect. and definitely for any rust!

 

forgot to look at the tread on the tires, and there was none. doh~
oh well i got better ones anyways

 

clean body (signs of clollision)
broken interior pieces
tested all electronics
tire wear
quick glance under car to see if anything is horribly wrong with the chassis
mileage
that it drives nice
the list goes on, just look for things that are obviously wrong

 

definately do a compression test. ask the owner if it ever overheated.

1. ya I read the faq was really helpful but I'm new to fixing cars, I've fixed a lawnmower engine obviously not the same especially since this is rotary

2. also wondering is this any good: 1990 FC3S, 5 Speed, 246,000 km, 55,000km on rebuilt engine, with some body work needed.

its $2500 canadian but I bet he could be talked down.

 

only thing id worry about is is the suspension gunna fall out from under you. Id steer clear of premodded or raced cars though. also make sure he doesnt have a son.

 

I looked to see if the frame is bent. Anything else can be fixed or replaced.
