what a day...
what a day...
bought another 7 from a friend the other day, 88 GXL. Car has the GXL LSD, apexi exhaust, RB headers (which I already have on the daily), powerslot rotors and hawk pads (brand new before car was parked), 4 GXL rims, and 4 TurboII rims, etc.
Today I installed an Apexi full exhaust onto my 87 (white car, daily driver) along with powerslot rotors front and rear and Hawk HP pads front and rear.
Started at 930, should have been done by noon, finished up at about 530pm. The rotors were seized to the hubs on the white car...ALL EFFING 4 OF THEM! Got the rears broke loose with a hammer and hellfire. The fronts...eff them. Ball ping hammer...no go. Mini-sledge....no go. Torch and mini-sledge...no go. Not to mention I suck at swinging a mini-sledge and mucked up approx. 4 wheelstuds and ended up breaking the right front rotor with heavy heavy blows from the mini-sledge, lol. Ended up pulling the whole hub assembly off both cars and putting hubs from GXL parts car onto the white car and re-assembling that way. Took WAY more time than was supposed to. Put the orig. rotor/hub assembly (from white car) on the ground and proceeded to try to dislodge the rotor from the hub with heruclean strength from the mini-sledge to no avail. They will NOT separate, period. Also cut my finger pretty badly removing the stock exhaust. Mazda exhaust hangers are no joke!
So now I need one new hub and a new brake rotor for one front corner to make the parts car a rolling chassis again.
What a day. All is finished and buttoned back on on both cars though, with the exception of front hub on one corner of the parts car.
