What the crap?

ok so what I first got my car she wasent the best in the world and needed a tune up badly, but she would take off pretty quick and give a nice chirp if shifting to 2nd high but she was doing like 8 mpg! So I tuned her up a bit, I put in new plugs, wires, air and fuel filters and did and oil change. I thought that would help out a lot, but it did almost the opposite! I launch ok but I cant get a chirp in 2nd and my mpg only went to like 10 or 12? is there something I'm missing?

I was hoping for a little better mpg but lose of power is shocking I triple checked the wiring and the plugs the only thing I can think of is maybe a 10w30 oil is too heavy cause is really freaking cold out right now... would that even do it?

are you letting it warm up to full operating temp before romping on it? the car will bog alittle if its driving hard while cold until it warms up. the oil is not going to make that kind of diff.

you wanted MPG increase? so, you changed plugs, did your oil change, and replaced your air and fuel filter... but you didnt' change the O2 sensor, didn't check if your catalytic converter needs replacement, nor adjust your TPS, and you expect to get results? maybe you should search some more. read and you'll learn. Tune up consist of changing ALL your fluids too, including your transmission and differential fluid, brake and clutch fluid and coolant flush and fill.

O2 senors fine, cats are fine, TPS doesnt need ajusting. as far as the other fluids go, trans and diff were done just before I got the car as far as the other fluids go, next pay check there getting done. Next time you want to get your 2 cents in you cant do it with out making yourself seem all high and mighty, I'm new to rotarys not to cars. so stop being a dick, rotorman85 got his point across with out sounding like a **** head you can do the same.

i was just giving suggestions, and you asked what you're missing, didn't you? you didn't put what i said in your first post, and now you're giving me this? who's being a dick now?

if you dont like people giving you suggestions or what they think, then dont ask.

"ok so what I first got my car she wasent the best in the world and needed a tune up badly, but she would take off pretty quick and give a nice chirp if shifting to 2nd high but she was doing like 8 mpg! that was your original post, now tell me i was wrong for telling you what you didn't put in.

i am not trying to be all high and mighty, if that's what you think i am, then i'll shut up and you can move on.

No offense but I agree with the starter of the thread, you did sound that way when you posted.

You seemed to be insinuating ignorance on his end where all you should've been doing is making suggestions, thats why it sounded that way. It was good adivce just formatted wrong.

yea, it was a bit too assuming of a post but mine was semi as well but have caught people in the "well the car ran well so it can't be the catalytic converter" guesstimate zone which is not a good place to guess.

OP, you have to manually check the O2 sensor voltage and inspect the condition of the sensor and its wiring. inspect the catalytic converter internally or replace it and check the TPS voltage with a DMM or the rest are just assumptions.

I don't know if it makes any difference what-so-ever, but when i changed my fuel filter because I had leaned out, (when I bought the car it had been sitting for over two years with the same gas and the guy only replaced the filter) I noticed that there is a certain flow direction on the filter. Could you maybe have put it in upside down? Mine fit better upside down, I figured those little arrows were there for a reason. Like I said, I don't know if it makes any difference; it's just a suggestion. Yeah, I know I sound like a noob, I never had to care about it with my previous cars and we don't use OEM fuel filters at work.
