what could a bad Air Pump filter cause?

i have an HKS intake and it has a small filter for the air pump, but the filter isn't glued in all the way, allowing alot of air to pass without being filtered first.

could this cause a serious problem in the future? I know it should be fixed (obviously) just wondering if its ok to drive to work.
